School redevelopment container shipped.

Thrive Africa in partnership with UK charity Book-Cycle (Exeter) have successfully exported a container of educational materials, which are now on route for Kumasi,Ghana.

People and schools from across the UK helped in donating educational books, teaching aids, pupil stationary, whiteboards and more in aid of our school redevelopment project. Students from Loughborough Students Union will partake in building eight libraries, improving school infrastructure and developing the educational opportunities available to pupils in schools across Kumasi, Ghana.

A successful proposal from York based Gillygate-Ghana Health Link, resulted in medical equipment from York Hospital and local practices been donated to their partner hospital based in Begoro,Ghana. Packed into the container the donated medical equipment will travel over 4,000 miles by sea and be delivered by Thrive Africa to eagerly awaiting doctors in Begoro.

The 20ft container due to arrive before the end of March, was piled high with donated goods by a lively bunch of energetic volunteers.

The materials which are destined for Kumasi, Ghana are a key part of Thrive Africa’s school redevelopment programme, the huge efforts made by all volunteers in organising the container, donated materials and logistics has made exporting the container to Ghana a great success.

April’s projects will see Thrive Africa working closely with Ghanaian Education Services in improving the level of education provided by struggling schools. Working with eight schools the projects aims to enhance the students learning experience and improve the educational resources available to them and their community.
